The Denver Botanic Garden: Steal These Ideas

I visited this spectacular garden during my first trip to Colorado a few years ago. Like most Botanic Gardens, it features a huge array of plants in many themed gardens. Rose garden, cactus garden, and a slew of others. Home gardeners like us strolled around in a happy trance wearing sun hats and naming plants we knew and looking for the name tags of the ones we didn't. I always keep an eye out for plants and ideas to use in my own garden. Here are two:

Blooming ground cover spilling out of tipped pots.
If you don't happen to have this kind of space, just one sunken pot with flowers would look good, too. It's also a nice way to use pretty pots you may have that are broken. Just sink the broken side into the ground.

A lattice "wall" with a window into a garden room. Nice view!

Snowy Gardens

Check out these two wildly different snow-dusted gardens.

Fall Fairy House

Add some fun Fall spice to your garden and help the kids build a whimsical fairy house from fallen pinecones, bark, and twigs.

Construct it at the bottom of a tree or tucked into a hidden spot in your yard or flower beds for visitors to discover.

Have a hot drink when you're done!
